Take a look through your wardrobe — are you ready for summer? Hopefully you have plenty of tanks, shorts, and T’s to get you through what Old Farmer’s Almanac is predicting to be a hot and sticky few months.
But you don’t want to be stuck sporting last year’s gear, do you? If that’s all you have, you may want to go summer clothes shopping as soon as you can. With the temperatures rising into the 80’s in recent weeks, summer heat is just around the corner.
Here are few recent trends in fashion that will be perfect for the summertime.
- Go Bold. Much like the 1990’s, bold prints are in this summer. You can rock strong blues, reds, and greens of all different kinds. The colors can be mixed and mismatched in ways that you never thought was possible, and still look chic. For example, consider wearing a half-halter, half-sleeveless dress, infused with a collage of designs, all put together haphazardly. It sounds a little hard to imagine, right? If you can’t picture it, you’re on the right track — anything goes.
- Long-sleeved Bikinis. You may not be thinking about swimwear just yet because you are focusing on summer clothes shopping, but there’s always time to try on a few bathing suits. This year, many shoppers are purchasing long-sleeved bikinis that cover their arms, and stop at the midriff (bottoms included). These are more common among surfers that want to avoid jellyfish stings and chafing, but are becoming a fashionable item. Once again, bold prints are the way to go — bright florals, a mesh of colors, or asymmetrical patterns.
- Scream Orange. This started as a spring trend, and is likely to push its way into the summer as well. Striking orange dresses, skirts, pants, shoes and accessories are making their way down the runway, and into the homes of shoppers. The sunny colors evoke the feeling of warmth, and the bright, passionate sun. It may be a bit too zestful for you, but you will catch everyone’s eye every time you walk by.
