Charitable giving is at an all time high here in the United States. As a matter of fact, more than 95% of all people living in this country will give to a charitable organization at one time or another. Up to three quarters (or nearly so) of all people in this country actually give to various charitable organizations over the course of one single year. Therefore, there is certainly no doubting the fact that giving to charity is quite immensely important indeed.
Of course, we must discuss why this is the case. It lies within the good that charities can do – and with the scope and scale of charitable organizations seen throughout the country. There are many different types of charities out there, meaning that there is likely at least one charity that you’d be willing to make charitable donations to. For many people, such charities will involve things like helping children in need clothing or even food. Unfortunately, children in need clothing or food is far too common of a trend seen all throughout the United States. There are likely even children in need clothing in your own community, though you might not now children in need clothing directly. And when it comes to children in need clothing and helping families in need, there is an incredibly easy way to give back.
Children in need clothing and in fact anyone in need of clothing will likely greatly benefit from charitable clothing donations. Used clothing donations are, after all, more popular than ever before, with more than four and a half billion pounds of clothing now being donated on a yearly basis. The year of 2011 alone saw up to two million tons of used clothing donations and other donated textiles. In the years that have passed us by since, the numbers surrounding such donations have only continued to increase.
Donating clothing is something that is hugely beneficial to children in need clothes, of course, but to many others as well. Organizations that accept clothing donations often help people of all ages, especially those who are homeless or imminently facing homelessness. A charity of this nature is that of the American Red Cross. The American Red Cross is a prominent organization here in the United States, and it is one that certainly serves a very important role – and will continue to do so in the years that are ahead of us as well. Without this charity, the world (or at least our country) would be a very different place indeed.
Of course, donating clothing is also something that is easy for just about every single person to do. After all, we all tend to have far more articles of clothing and even pairs of shoes than we realistically know what to do with. In today’s world, as a matter of fact, the average woman will own upwards of 30 outfits. This is 11 more outfits than the average woman living back in the 1930s would have been lucky enough to own. For many people, however, having so many articles of clothing merely serves to take up space. Therefore, doing something good by donating clothing to adults and children in need clothing is a great next step to take towards decluttering your home and making it a far more enjoyable place to live.
This is not to say that the process of getting rid of clothing is always easy. As a matter of fact, the opposite is all too often true. Fortunately, however, there are a few tips and tricks that can help to streamline this process – or at least make it a bit simpler on the whole. For instance, it will be important to get rid of anything that no longer fits you, as such clothing is likely just taking up space in your home. In addition to this, getting rid of anything that hasn’t been worn in longer than six months (provided that you live in a climate that has only one or two seasons and not the full four) is also a good idea and one that will help you to prune your closet efficiently and even ruthlessly.
